HOME RAPE Vs PERSONS YOU KNOW

75% OF RAPE CASE HAPPENS NEAR AND AROUND YOUR HOME.

The statistics on rape are rather upsetting: One in six women will be sexually assaulted at some point in her lifetime. And though many women, in their worst nightmares, imagine being attacked by a stranger in a strange place, the reality is different: Rapes frequently occur in the home, and "known doers" - men who live in the victim's house, are related to her, or have some kind of social contact with her - are the rapists in 75 percent of cases. One in four rapes happen within the home, your office and places known to you. Generally, rape occurs most often in places where a certain intimacy is possible."

FOR HOME RAPE ATTACKS, HERE ARE SUGGESTIONS:-

1. Listen to your fears. If you feel unsafe on a certain street that you regularly take home from work, take a different route, even if it's longer. Don't brush aside your concerns, telling yourself that you're being silly. Often, our reptilian brains know better than our conscious minds when there is something to be worried about. And when you get home, you can suddenly decide to take the back door for a change (if there is any).

2. Make sure no one can get into your building (except the people with keys). It seems obvious, but plenty of residential buildings in urban settings don't lock properly - and because we don't want to be a pain, we let it go. So make sure that all the means of egress to your building lock properly - not just the front door, but the basement and the roof. And make sure they are kept locked. If they aren't, talk to your landlord about it

3. Have windows that lock. It should not be possible for someone to get into your apartment or home simply by climbing through a window, or jimmying it open. So make sure your windows lock, and get cheap and easy-to-install security devices that clip on to your window frame for extra protection. Consider getting gates on them, too. They may not be pretty, but they are the best bet for keeping intruders out.

4. Know your neighbours. Talking to the people who live near you about safety issues and concerns can be helpful. It's easier to ask a landlord for improvements as a group, and when a community comes together to solve its safety problems, it can have a much bigger impact than one person working alone.

5. Never buzz up someone who claims to be delivering a package unless you're actually expecting one. It's not hard to get a UPS uniform, Leo says, and criminals often use that kind of a costume to get access to a house.

6. Don't listen to your iPod when you're alone in dark or unpopulated places, especially at night. Having music in your ears will prevent you from hearing someone who might be trying to sneak up on you. Keep your wits about you at all times.

7. Never open your car remotely until you can reach the door with your hand. If someone is trying to take advantage of you, he might hide until you've unlocked the door, and then do his best to get into your vehicle.

25% OF RAPE CASE HAPPENS NEAR AND AROUND YOUR OFFICE, OR ON TRANSIT TO OFFICE. THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FRAGILE MOMENTS. SO HERE ARE PLACES TO LOOK OUT FOR:-

1. Parking lots, lonely bus-stops or train stations.
2. Public restrooms
3. Front door of a building, or entering an apartment,
3. Entryways
4. Staircases,
5. Elevators,
6. Basements,
7. Roofs,
8. Corridors, and entrance halls.

Apart from your home front which ranks up 75% rape zone, the other 25% men who rape women prefer to find their victims in the above mentioned fragile places. These locations give the attackers their choice of victims. Yet, they are rather desolate public areas where an attack can actually go unnoticed. To protect yourself from rapists, stay aware- especially when you're in public places as listed above. If you find yourself alone, such as in an elevator, with a strange man, get a good look at his face. Potential rapists don't want their victims to be able to identify them.

THINGS RAPISTS LOOK OUT FOR IN THEIR VICTIMS BEFORE THEY ATTACK.

1. YOUR DRESSING: Higher number of rapists attack women who wear skimpy dresses and clothes that can easily be pulled off completely or over the head of their victims. Showing off too much of your flesh sexually is an indirect invitations to rapists. So as much as you try to dress provocatively always remember that such dressing are rapists weaknesses too and they are watching and might be interested, and if you happened to fall within their grab, they will take advantage of it.

2. YOUR EXPRESSIONS: Women who appear to be weak and unprotected are prime victims. When you're by yourself- or even if you're with other women- walk with a sense of purpose. To protect yourself from rapists, carry yourself in a manner that shows the world you know where you're going. Walk in a manner that shows you know where you're going, and that you mean business. Even if you are afraid, let your expression show you are ready for a fight and not a flight. But in any case and for every opportunity, dumb the fight and take a flight.

3. PAY ATTENTION: Women who are putting on make up, rummaging through their purses, or are otherwise distracted, are said to be prime candidates for becoming rape victims. Why? Because they're not paying attention to the world around them. Therefore, they can easily be overpowered by a man who has rape on his mind.

4. YOUR HAIR: Rapists also tend to attack women who have long hair. Long hair gives them something to hold onto. It also gives them a way to cause pain so the intended victim will go where they want them to and do what they want. Long hair tends to give rapists an advantage in those two respects.

5. EASY TARGET: In general, rapists choose women they think will be easy to attack. Therefore, if you resist becoming a man's next victim, he might give up and you'll be able to escape to safety.

HOW TO DEFEND YOURSELF WHEN ATTACKED...

If it advisable to take a self-defence class in your area. You can also take up Judo or another type of martial arts so you'll be prepared to defend yourself in case of an attack.

You can also do the following

1. Carry a canister of pepper spray with you at all times. Just shouting, "I have pepper spray and I'll use it!" to an attacker might thwart his attempts at raping you.

2. Stay in charge and in command...If a strange man approaches you in a menacing manner, raise your hands in front of you and loudly shout, "Stop! Back off!" This will show the rapist that you're going to resist him. In turn, he may actually flee and leave you alone.

But if and when attacked...do the following

1. You can always pinch the skin underneath the top of his arm as hard as you can. Believe me, pinch someone there, and it's going to hurt badly.

2. Grab his fingers and bend them back as far as you can until he lets go so you can make your escape.

3. If you can reach the man's groin area, she can give him a bone-chilling pain that can bring him down to his knees. Then, she'll have a chance to get away from her attacker. The best body part to use to hit a man's groin with is the knee. But, the foot, elbow, or even a hand clenched into a fist, are all effective at making a rapist go down to the ground in pain.

4. If you are already in his grabs, a surprise attack on his weak places will help as above might help. Should you also have been greatly over-powered, it is advisable to take away the fight from your muscles and transfer it to your brain. Let your brain think, there are chances that your brain will provide you with a quick surprise attack solution. Like smashing his two ears together with force when he is ejaculating. The deafness can stun him and he will let go.

BE SAFE!!!
