WAHALA O!!! Seven thousand HIV patients ignore anti-retroviral drugs in Ogun

There should be more funds available for the eradication of HIV/AIDS.

About seven thousand persons living with HIV/AIDS have refused to collect anti-retroviral drugs, the Ogun State Government has said.

The Director of the Ogun State Action Committee on Aids, OGSACA, Kehinde Fatungase, made this known at a press conference held in Abeokuta, the state capital.

“On the number of those accessing antiretroviral drugs, out of the19, 000 expected, only 12, 000 people were turning up,” Mr. Fatungase informed.

He said that as part of measures to control the spread of the virus, his agency on a regular basis undertakes the operation of mobile HIV Counselling and Testing, HCT, in areas identified as hot spots like the trailer park in Ogere and higher institutions of learning in the State.

He asked the media to help in creating necessary awareness about the disease.

In a related development, the Commissioner for Health in the State, Olaokun Soyinka, called on the Federal Government to address the gap in the treatment of the disease to ensure that the 1.5 million Nigerians living positively are treated, so that the dream of achieving zero AIDS related deaths could be realized.

Mr. Soyinka lamented that as the prevalence rate of the disease increases, lesser funds are being made available to combat it. He called for concerted effort from all stakeholders to address the prevalence.

The commissioner said that the Ogun State Government is poised to redouble efforts and take steps necessary towards achieving a zero infection among residents.

Mr. Soyinka explained that government is already working towards the passage of an anti stigma bill, adding that when finally passed into a law, it will help address issues relating to stigma which has been discovered to be one of the challenges in stemming the prevalence rate.

He said the state, in collaboration with the World Bank, and OGSACA, had been facilitating the training of relevant personnel, procuring and distributing test kits, embarking on awareness campaign as well as ensuring continuous strengthening of institutions, in the bid to scale down the 3.1 per cent prevalence rate in the state.

Few would choose to end up on Mike Tyson's bad side, but when Brad Pitt got into bed with Tyson's ex-wife, Robin Givens, he did just that.

During an interview for "In Depth with Graham Bensinger" on Yahoo! Sports, Tyson discussed the day he walked into ex-wife Givens' house to find the "Head of the Class" actress in bed with the hunky heartthrob.

"I hope Brad don't think I'm mad at him. I'm not mad at this guy, no way," Tyson said, referring to the 1980s tryst.

Tyson explained that while he and Givens were tending to divorce proceedings in 1988, they would still have sex. "I was getting a divorce. I was going to my lawyer's office to divorce her that day but I wanted to sneak in a quickie." Apparently, Givens was also spending time with Pitt. "This particular day, someone beat me to the punch," Tyson told Bensinger. "I guess Brad got there earlier than I did. I was mad as hell. You should've saw his face when he saw me."

In April, while speaking to Global Grind, Tyson told the Givens-Pitt story a bit differently.

"One day, I’m going to her house to bone her again and no one’s home, and I’m leaving and she’s pulling up with Brad Pitt, and I’m sad," he said. At the time, Tyson did not recognize the superstar actor. "He wasn’t Brad Pitt back then. He was just some little beach-bum-looking dude. 'Hey dude' kind of guy. He was probably selling his body for money or something, I don’t know. He was very pretty."

"I wasn’t thinking about attacking him," Tyson told Global Grind. "I was just depressed I couldn’t bone her no more."

Tyson's marriage to Givens was marred by domestic abuse. Tyson has admitted he was a "savage" and a "pig" back then. Currently, the former heavyweight champion and "Hangover" actor is married to Lakiha “Kiki” Spicer, whom he credits with turning his life around.

It was after a nice Sunday service and a Marriage counselling meeting organised by the church for the “about to marry couples”. I took Labake to a nearby eatery for refreshments since we don’t stay together. Right there we discussed on a trip to Dubai for shopping and getting things she might need for our upcoming wedding. The General Overseer of Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has been asked to pay N2 billion within 14 days as general damages or face legal action, for the death of three-year-old Imienfan Omokaro who got drowned at Kingdom Heritage Model School operated by Winners Chapel in Benin.

A letter written by Omokaro’s Counsel, Prince Peter E. Uwadiae-Igbinigie and, dated November 28, 2012 and made available to journalists in Benin, explained that the amount was “for the callous and senseless killing of our client’s daughter, Miss Imienfan Omokaro.”

Besides, Mr. Omokaro’s lawyers want Kingdom Heritage Model School to tender unreserved apology in three national newspapers, warning that if the demands were not met within 14 days, “we have the irrevocable instructions of our client to commence legal action against the school (Kingdom Heritage Model School) and Church (Winners Chapel) without any further correspondence from this Chambers.”

Imienfan Omokaro, a KG I pupil of Kingdom Heritage Model School, was said to have drowned in a drum of water in a toilet in the school on November 1, 2012. Also, teachers of the school allegedly did not inform her mother when she came to pick her from school on that fateful day until late in the evening.

The school authorities and Winners Chapel had reportedly kept the girl for more than an hour, praying for her before finally taking her to Irowa Hospital in Benin, where she was confirmed dead. The girl had died before being brought to hospital, doctors said.

Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the former Biafran leader who died early this year, showed great love to his wife, Bianca, now an ambassador of Nigeria to Spain.

Emeka Ojukwu’s Will is Fake!!!

The first son of late Biafran leader Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has alleged that the will presented by Barrister Onyekwelu on Friday is fraudulent, saying the lawyer is a private counsel to Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and not that of his late father.

According to the report, Ojukwu’s first son, also called Emeka, like his father, claimed he  has a copy of the original will written by his father and not what he called the “fraud” presented to them as Ojukwu’s will. Speaking at his country home in Nnewi, Anambra State, the late Igbo leader’s son maintained that his late father’s will was altered in favour of his step mother.

LOS ANGELES, Dec 1, 2012 (AFP) – David Beckham’s Major League Soccer career ended in triumph Saturday as the Los Angeles Galaxy scored three second-half goals in a 3-1 victory over Houston for a second-straight MLS Cup crown.

Robbie Keane, Omar Gonzalez and Landon Donovan scored goals for the heavily-favoured Galaxy who clinched their fourth MLS Cup title by beating the Dynamo for the second consecutive year.

“Our goal at the start of the season was to win a championship,” Beckham said. “Last year we were amazing and we did it,

“This year we didn’t start well but we came good and we did it at the important time.”

Beckham’s final game, which was played in intermittent rain, started out as a low-key farewell with no festivities before the game to honour the football icon.

But he walked off to massive cheers from the crowd of 30,510 at the Home Depot Center after the Galaxy, trailing 0-1 at the interval, came alive in the second half.

Republic of Ireland forward Keane appeared to have scored off a free kick from Beckham early in the second half but he was ruled offside.

Galaxy’s Gonzalez — who was named the Most Valuable Player of the match — made it 1-1 in the 60th minute with a header as he beat two Houston defenders in the air before floating the ball over goalkeeper Tally Hall.

Donovan gave the Galaxy their first lead five minutes later from the penalty spot.

The Galaxy were awarded the penalty after a handball by Houston’s Ricardo Clark.

“I just like winning and I am real proud of this team,” said Donovan, who scored the only goal in last year’s 1-0 victory. “It is incredible. You cannot dream up stuff like this.”

Keane capped the scoring with a goal off a penalty kick in injury time, firing a low shot into the net. Keane celebrated by doing a cartwheel and a summersault before being mobbed by his teammates.

After Keane’s goal, Beckham was taken out of the game to a massive ovation. He walked over to the sidelines and hugged coach Bruce Arena.

Beckham, credited with helping raise football’s profile in the US sports landscape in his half-dozen seasons here, hadn’t even received the biggest cheer when the Galaxy players were introduced.

That went to Galaxy captain Donovan, although those cheers quickly turned to groans as Donovan missed an open goal in the 13th minute from six yards out after taking a perfect pass from Keane.

Moments later Houston’s Brad Davis went down at midfield after taking a knee to the head from Beckham.

Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Saunders was forced to make a couple of huge saves in the first half. In the 27th minute he just got a hand on a Kofi Sarkodie shot from in close to deflect it over the bar.

Houston’s Calen Carr opened the scoring just before halftime with a nice run down the right side before slipping the ball between Saunders and the near post.

Carr used his speed to get open then outmuscled Galaxy defender Tommy Meyer to get off a hard shot to the top of the net that beat a falling Saunders.

“The locker room was pretty quiet at half time but everyone knew we were going to get a goal in the second half and then when we did we won the game,” said Gonzalez.

MANAMA, Bahrain — Just hours after reality TV star Kim Kardashian gushed about her impressions of Bahrain, riot police fired tear gas to disperse more than 50 hardline Islamic protesters denouncing her presence in the Gulf kingdom.

The clashes took place just before Kardashian opened the Bahrain branch of her Millions of Milkshakes shop.

An Associated Press journalist saw protesters chanting "God is Great" near the shopping complex in Riffa, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the capital Manama. The demonstrators were cleared before Kardashian appeared late Saturday.

Earlier, she posted glowing remarks about Bahrain on her Twitter account, calling it "the prettiest place on earth." It was re-Tweeted by Bahrain's foreign minister.

Kardashian was in Kuwait earlier this week to open another branch of the shop.

Anti-Gaga Protests

Beauty Without Cruelty members protested against Lady Gaga's support for the fur industry, on November 26, 2012 in Johannesburg.

The group of protestors handed out anti-Gaga leaflets in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.

Smaragda Louw, who is the organisation’s spokesman, said "Our protest is against Lady Gaga's support for the fur industry. She wears fur, despite telling [People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals] that she was against the wearing of fur.

According to the group’s Facebook page, the second protest is taking place today [2012/11/27] at Sandton City.

This is not the only protest against Lady Gaga performing in South Africa.

Protestors from South African Council of Churches recently protested against Lady Gaga’s concerts saying it would lead to an exponential growth in Satanism.

Following the protest by the SA Council of Churches in Pretoria, other protestors went to The Big Concerts offices in Cape Town, with placards saying “Mother City. Beware! Mother Monster”, “Cause –Gaga Effect Flood Gates of Evil”, “Destroyer of sound values”.

According to IOL, one of the protestors, Abraham Warren was quoted as saying “Allowing the bride of Satan into the country will allow a curse to enter.”

Big Concerts is the local production company for Lady Gaga’s South African tour.

Lady Gaga arrived in South Africa last night [2012/11/28].

Fans gathered at the Lanseria International Airport to welcome their idol.
