SPAIN: CENTRE OF WORLD FOOTBALL...

Two cities, three clubs. The world’s best XI of 2012 was comprised entirely of players from Barcelona (5), Real Madrid (5) and Falcao from Atletico Madrid. Or ‘Madrid 6 Barcelona 5’ according to Madrid-based sport paper AS, who prefer club and city one-upmanship. Not a single player who makes his living in the footballing powerhouses of Manchester, Munich or Milan made the XI. Not one who plays in Turin, Dortmund or Paris either. Casillas; Alves, Pique, Ramos, Marcelo; Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta; Messi, Falcao, Ronaldo are the chosen few, voted for by their peers from 49 players’ unions worldwide.

SNAKES ON THE LOSE! DIRECTOR DIES!!!

Hollywood
is gonna have to find someone else to make their awesomely-on-purpose-bad movies because
Director David R. Ellis has passed away. The man who brought the world Shark Night 3D, The Final Destination,Cellular, Final Destination 2 and of course, Snakes on a Plane — was found dead Monday morning in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was only 60-years-old. David's long time pal Samuel L. Jackson mourned his loss on Twitter, writing:

So sad to hear of David R Ellis passing! So talented, so kind, such a Good Friend. He'll be missed. Gone too soon!

Authorities say Ellie was found in the bathroom of his hotel room, and foul play is not suspected. They still haven't determined a cause of death. Our thoughts are with his wife and three children. He's in a better place now. A place with no snakes.

The group first unveiled the video on January 1. The feat, accomplished in a mere five to six days, eclipsed the previous record set by Hyuna’s Ice Cream which took eleven days to pass the 20 million view mark. It also crossed the mark much faster than Psy’s Gangnam Style, which gathered 20 million views in 26 days and SNSD’s The Boys music video, which took 37 days. The song and video are continuing to receive strong interest not only in Korea but abroad and has been receiving acclaim from all kinds of music sites, including Billboard and MTV.

TRUE STORY: THE MAN! HIS TUMORS! AND HIS DREAM!

When I first watched his video in which he was giving the commencement speech at the Wayne State University, I was really touched, moved and inspired -all at the same time. In face of incredible odds, VICTOR SOPURUCHI CHUKWUEKE, is surely a victor. For years, he lived in suspense and fear of deportation for his visa had expired. He prayed. He hoped. He pleaded. And his prayers were answered. Last Friday, President Barack Obama of the United States signed into law a rare private bill that gave him a permanent residency in the country. Also known as the Green Card, a permanent residency will allow him to study at a medical school in Ohio. He wants to be a surgeon.

TAYLOR SWIFT BREAKING UP AGAIN?

Could One Direction’s Harry Styles already be yet another subject for Taylor Swift’s next album? According to Business Insider, the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer has some new breakup material, and she isn’t doing much to make the world believe any differently. While Harry has kept quiet thus far regarding reports of the couple’s demise, on January 5, Taylor cryptically tweeted a partial lyric from her current single, “I Knew You Were Trouble.” “...'til you put me down,” she wrote. It’s open to interpretation what that might mean, but she certainly hasn’t given any further clues.

CHICAGO (AP) — With no signs of trauma and nothing to raise suspicions, the sudden death of a Chicago man a day after he collected a large pile of lottery winnings was initially ruled a result of natural causes. Nearly six months later, authorities have a mystery on their hands after medical examiners, responding to a relative's pleas, did an expanded screening and determined that Urooj Khan, 46, died shortly after ingesting a lethal dose of cyanide. The finding has triggered a homicide investigation, the Chicago Police Department said.

I MADE MARIAH CAREY...TOMMY MOTTOLA

Mariah Carey First Husband

Mariah Carey's ex-husband, record executive Tommy Mottola -- who she says was a "controlling" man who "mentally and emotionally" abused her during their four-year-marriage -- is speaking out. Mottola, who is 20 years Carey's senior and married her when she was just 23, is clearing the air in his new memoir "Hitmaker," saying he might have been demanding, but he's the reason for her worldwide success.

"If it seemed like I was controlling, I apologize," he writes in his book, available on Jan. 15. "Was I obsessive? Yes. But that was also part of the reason for her success." According to the New York Post, Mottola, who divorced the mother of his two children to be with the singer in 1993, explains that because he didn't let Carey take a break early on in her career, she became a superstar.

"My feeling was that there’d be plenty of time for Mariah to celebrate just a little ways down the road," the 63-year-old, now married to singer Thalia, writes. “I’m not talking 10 years, just a few." But the music mogul is not taking full responsibility, adding that Carey's talent is untouched. "An unbelievable energy was running though me, screaming, ‘Turn the car around! That may be the best voice you’ve ever heard in your life,'" he reportedly writes of when he first listened to Carey's demo.

KIDS KISSING BEHIND OBAMA's BACK...WHAT?

Kissing students steal the show at president’s photo op

President Barack Obama surprised the students at Daughter of Zion Jr. Academy in Delray Beach, Fla., with an unscheduled stop. The kids were standing outside their school to wave to the motorcade but got an even more personal response: The commander in chief stopped and took a photo with them. But perhaps the biggest surprise of all was the kissing pair photobombing the president. Obama, sitting in with the students, balances one child on his knee with no idea of the romantic drama going on above him. The cute photo of President Obama with the adorable sight of the kissing students caught the attention of the Web, and Twitter named it “photo of the day.” Can you see the kids at the top kissing? lol.

MEET THE PIRATES OF INDIA AND THE BOOK BOYS OF MUMBAI!

As the lights turn red at the Haji Ali traffic intersection in Mumbai, the boy slouching against the railings quickly straightens up. Yakub Sheikh is just 12 years old, but he knows he has only 45 seconds to make some money. Holding aloft his wares, he dashes toward a black BMW and in his cracking preteen voice addresses the woman inside: “ ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’?” Mumbai once prided itself on its literary culture — libraries, journals and poetry societies flourished; foreign books, though hard to find and prohibitively expensive, were all the rage. It was into this economy of scarcity and exclusivity that, somewhere around the 1970s, the book pirates stepped in.
